We released the 2023 Status of Women Report in the run-up to the Women’s Reservation Bill!
It is a data-driven guide that explores various indices such as Health, Representation, Agency, and Livelihood to determine the direct relationship between representative legislation and how it becomes stagnant when women are not in power.
In anticipation of the September 2023 Special Session of the Indian Parliament, we raised a call to support the Women’s Reservation Bill and used our research to create multiple impactful policy proposals and important conversations.
Women’s Reservation Bill
The Women’s Reservation Bill 2023 is here! While we understand there’s a long way to go and many battles to be won we’re here, we’re being heard and we are fighting the good fight through relentless advocacy.
Petition in the run-up to the Women’s Reservation Bill 2023: In the month of August-September in the run-up to the special session NETRI met with party leaders & MPs across party lines (from ruling party BJP to various parties in the opposition) to push for them to champion for women’s reservation bill.
We also launched a digital campaign on the International Day of Democracy, in partnership with Jhatkaa our petition which garnered over 2500 votes overnight and raised the issue of legislative reforms from a gender-sensitive perspective.
NETRI actively reached out to 60+ Members of Parliament and party leaders to provide them with research and narrative inputs to be raised during the Women’s Reservation Bill debate in both the houses of the parliament and in the media.
We personally engaged with over 15+ MPs and gave them inputs for their interventions ( the parties ranging from BJP, BSP, DMK, and INC to NCP, SAD, SP, and TMC).

NETRIs as Political Professionals:
From our Samaanta 2023 batch, Rubani has earned an internship with Reena Gupta, AAP, Spokesperson. Sreejayaa has been awarded the Indira Fellowship while Sneha is now a fellow at the Yuva Bhagidarhi Fellowship. Sanika, who is currently volunteering with us, also earned an internship with the Hon’ble MP Dr. Fauzia Khan.

We conducted a Policy Town Hall this July 2023 at Loyola Academy in Hyderabad that was attended by more than 100 participants.
